PLATO - Mosaico
"Mosaico" is a hymn to strong, free, fighting, resilient women, mothers, daughters, and grandmothers of any origin or social status who struggle against inhumane acts and find the strength to carry on. Women who have experienced drama, loss, grief and despair, but somehow survived.
In this vision, the 2 opening and closing tracks (ALF LAYLA and WA LAYLA) are meant to refer back to the tale of "The thousand and one nights" where the power of one woman's word stops the slaughter of all the others: the celebrated Scheherazade tells the misogynistic king a story every night, postponing the ending to the next night, thus going on for "a thousand and one nights" and saving the lives of herself and the other women; thanks to this woman's perseverance and storytelling skills, the king falls in love with her and comes to his senses about his opinion of the female world. A story of stories, a mixture of traditions and voices from different and distant times and places, a story that emphasizes the importance of the female role in building bridges, mending wounds, weaving new and lasting narratives.
Vocals by singer Ghelery (Arianna Ferraudo), reinterpretations by Turin-based producers Sonambient (Andrea Buzzi), Alessandro Di Paola and Ligurian Dalo (Simone D'alonzo).
